KATZ Americas has a unique market position as North America’s largest producer of pulpboard beverage coasters, all while using sustainable manufacturing processes. Although having the largest market share is a good thing, it challenged us to be creative in changing the way consumers view beverage coasters – from a legacy piece of barware to a viable advertising medium. To showcase the advertising power of coasters, we teamed up with Movember to create custom coasters that fostered awareness and engagement for the cause. The coasters featured a punch out wearable mustache that bar patrons and event goers could snap pics with and share on social media using the #Movember tag, and the back side of the coaster featured a QR code that linked to the Movember campaign donation page. The campaign saw success in changing the perception of the beverage coaster in the US market, and helped support a great cause.
